What is
resilience?
Resilience is the ability to adapt and
bounce back from adversity, trauma, or
signi昀椀cant stress. It's a vital trait that equips
us to face life's unpredictable challenges with
determina琀椀on and grace. While it's not possible
to evade stress and setbacks en琀椀rely, the
cul琀椀va琀椀on of resilience is a powerful tool that
can shape how we respond to these challenges
and, ul琀椀mately, our overall wellbeing.
Resilience is a skill set that can be cul琀椀vated
and developed over 琀椀me. Strengthening
resilience is a gradual process that necessitates
perseverance and support from your social
network. It relies on both personal a琀琀ributes
and abili琀椀es (such as self-esteem and e昀昀ec琀椀ve
communica琀椀on) and external factors (like the
availability of social support and resources).
Being resilient doesn’t mean we’re immune
to stress, emotional challenges, or hardship.
Rather, it encompasses the capacity to
navigate and overcome emotional distress
and suffering, acknowledging that these
experiences are a natural part of life.
